ABSTRACT : Medicines from
Plant material has become a part of people's daily lives
Indonesia. Lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.) is a long-standing vegetable
consumed by the community because it has an attractive appearance
fresh green color, can be used as fresh vegetables, and has value
added to health. Lettuce has a high nutrient content especially
minerals such as potassium, sodium, magnesium, calcium, phosphorus, and iron,
vitamin A, vitamin B, and vitamin C. Plants that have potassium content
the high has a good solubility to calcium oxalate, so the goal
this research is to find out the potassium content and the ability of the power
soluble to calcium oxalate. Lettuce leaves are made in infusion preparations
with procedures according to the IV edition of Indonesian Pharmacopoeia and calcium solubility
Oxalate in the infusion is carried out by incubation for 4 hours, then
potassium and calcium levels before and after incubation in the infusion were analyzed
quantitatively by atomic absorption spectrophotometry method. Analysis results
Potassium and calcium in lettuce infusion before incubation are (486,2133 ± 7,8057)
μg / mL and (152,0783 ± 4,0871) μg / mL, while the levels after incubation were (492,4833 ± 3,5438)
μg / mL and (192,2367 ± 4,0249) μg / mL, with dissolved calcium ion concentration
amounting to (4,0158 ± 0,5641) mg / 100 mL.
