Abstract

Yogyakarta State University (UNY) as one of the educational institutions
always maintain and develop functions to prepare and
produce teachers and other education personnel who have values, attitudes,
knowledge and skills, so as to be able to become educational staff
professional. One of the efforts made is to provide supplies to
students in the form of a series of practical courses including Field Practice
Guided (PLT).
Implementation of Guided Field Practice aims to train students
in order to apply the knowledge and abilities that have been learned
in the teaching and learning process in accordance with their respective fields of expertise,
so that students have the experience of being professional educators
values, attitudes, knowledge, and skills as provisions in themselves
develop competencies. Teaching and learning activities of SMP Negeri 9
Yogyakarta is done with the Full Day School (FDS) system so that learning activities
teaching is only done for 5 days in one week. There are many activities
which are both curricular and extracurricular. Most of the activities are on
school is oriented towards religion.
PLT students teach several subjects according to their respective fields.
Practitioners teach VII grade English subjects. Addition to
practice teaching students also practice schooling like
ceremony every Monday and National holidays by following the flag ceremony
and do picket assignments.
Activities carried out by PLT students in practice include
making Learning Implementation Drafts (RPP), learning media, Problem
and student assignment assessment sheets, consultation with mentoring teachers, as well as
evaluate together with the mentor teacher. In addition, PLT students
also follow or accompany extracurricular activities. This practice follows
KIR and English Speaking Club (ESC) extracurricular assistance. While
the main activity of the PLT is to practice learning in class VII A, VII B,
VII C, VII D, VII E, and VII F. Teaching practices are carried out as much as at least 8
time. Many dynamics have to be passed during the PLT implementation, but all can
overcome by the existence of communication and good cooperation with school residents
such as the bureaucracy, tutors and students. Thus, activities
PLT can provide many lessons for students who carry out activities
PLT.
