Calamus javensis Blume is a small diameter rattan species that is very polymorphic with
there are many morphological variations that often experience misidentification as another species. But on
Java, the morphological variation of C. javensis is less variable so there are not many studies that examine variations
morphology of the population of C. javensis on Java. This study aims to analyze morphological variations and
determine the morphological characters that play an important role in determining the variation of the vegetative organ of the population
C. javensis in GHSNP, West Java. The method used is Cluster Analysis to analyze variations
morphology of C. javensis, and PCA to determine the character of vegetative organs that determine morphological variation
C. javensis. Dendrogram CA results show that C. javensis is grouped into 3 clusters, i.e.
clusters “dense”, “moderate”, and “sparse”. PCA results show that characters play an important role
in the cluster grouping is the character size (length and width) of the leaves of the basal part,
middle, and terminal, the stem diameter is elevated, petiolus length, and the number and length of thorns are raised
which envelops the stem. Based on PCA results, it turns out that the distribution of these variations does not show
association with altitude factors. Other factors such as the occurrence of hybrids between closely related species
It is also thought to be the background of the morphological variation of C. javensis so that further research is needed
using a molecular approach to determine the genetic variation of C. javensis
